Waking up everyday in a rain forest becomes the norm. But hang on, something has been missing, ah yes, rain. Well it is not missing any more.
Inundated at last and driven by the cyclone which has been hovering around off the East coast for a while now. Story is it will hit us on Thursday. The white line is the past, the red is the predicted line. For now the only effect seems this rain and some big waves on the beaches. They probably are a result of the strong winds a long way out to sea.
Perhaps you can see the rain cloud slightly curving along the beach, with driving rain that is gone in five minutes, replaced by Sunshine. This is the secluded beach at New Brighton, we simply had to visit.
Everyone in town seemed to be in the cafe, (not outside) one per person, using laptops. The coffee was great. We were in the market for a new large water bottle. Thought we would call in to Coles on the way back.
Rather empty shelves generally but water none. Off we trundled to Woolworths, same story. Frantic shelf filling after Sunday (so it would seem) but still no still water.
Shrewdly we went to a garage and the nice chap was able to fulfil the water request while we filled Mazzy up to the brim with his tipple. Went to the beach with the idea of hiring a couple of body boards, but when we saw the size of the waves today, decided to simply watch the surfers having a good time.
