Alternative route selected: Via Arrowtown and then scenic route. This climbs steeply up into the Crown Range, giving you superb views back over the valley, with the Remarkables as a backdrop.

Rambler extrordinaire! Walking from North tip of NZ to South tip, raise money for Portugal rewilding. He is the only person in NZ walking further than Liz everyday. Found him in Arrowtown, a village founded by Chinese settlers in search of Gold. The main street is full of boutiques looking like 1800's style.
Especially bendy the road climbs and drops and then arives in the Cardrona Township with the iconic hotel and Tesla charging point. Prince Harry had sausages and mash here. I would not risk it.
Down to sea level, we arive in the centre of Wanaka a.k.a. Lake Wanaka. It is so hilly you certainly wanna car round here. Liz set off exploring on foot to find the Croquet Club. She was sucessful. We may get a game tomorrow.
Raging hot Sunshine, at 2pm and it would stay like that until 8pm when the Sun drops behind the mountains, only to set about 10pm. I cool off with an Earl Grey Kombucha.
Outside our balcony to the left 100 yards to the town centre. Fantastic apartment, we both dipped in the pool. Inside we have lots of space and the car is safe in our garage below.
Super busy today because there is a triathalon tomorrow and everyone is testing the water, bikes and shoes in preparation. Could be a killer hot day. In fact I think today was about the hottest so far on our journey.
Evening settling in now, the town becoming less frantic, we stroll along the lake in the direction away from town. Very much looking forward to following events tomorrow. Bought a pencil to replace the one I especially brought with me to use today and seem to have lost.
