Road Trip To Queenstown

Since arriving two weeks ago, three things have attached themselves to me. This water bottle design which is very easy to use as opposed to the traditional big tank. Ginger and Lemon Kombucha, a fermented 0% which I first tasted on day one when I randomly selected a bottle from a fridge, having never seen it before and I will miss it at home (Amazon?). And last but not least quality Greek Yogurt, wait for it, Banoffee flavour, genius.

Whakairinga rangitaki, every day so far, no misses. Respect this language an the people, who do seem able to have a laugh at their own expense, while also doing a great job of protecting their heritage. Google translate does have Maori, but it varies from the helicopter day link job we used before.

As we needed petrol, goodness only knows what we could have done if we ran out on the road we were on, we stopped at this great place to fill up and have a coffee. There were some boutique shops in back. Very nice clear roads on cruise control all the way, almost. The scenery was very amazing and we got a glimpse of Mount Cook as we rounded the South end of the lake. We also ran through a gorge where gold mining is still going on. The trip was totally stunning, like being on another planet.

Reaching our apartment we soon set off to walk around this spit of land, which is a wonderful park. The interior is an 18 hole golf Frisbee course Fairways have been found between trees and everything is covered in pine needles and cones.. There are views of Queenstown across the blue waters. Glacial rocks are scattered around, some being split by tree saplings growing through them. Half a dozen bee hives were buzzing with busy bees and there was information about the importance of bees to continue to pollinate plants.

Move over and get the blue flags out, fearless Liz is on the Luge today, that look of determination, burning rubber, overtaking everyone as if they were an overloaded camper-van being driven by Charles Darwin on a Sunday. This happens at the top of the Skyline gondola. Unfortunately paragliding and bungee were closed but we did enjoy the exhilaration of the luge.
